NASHUA, N.H., March 28, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Dresner Advisory Services today published the 2019 Cloud Computing and Business Intelligence Market Study, part of its Wisdom of Crowds® series of research. This is the company’s 8th annual report examining end user deployment trends and attitudes toward cloud computing and business intelligence (BI), defined as the technologies, tools, and solutions that employ one or more cloud deployment models.
According to the 2019 report, 48 percent of respondents indicate cloud BI is either “critical” or “very important”, and current use and future plans for deploying cloud BI continue to grow. SaaS and cloud computing now ranks 12th in importance among a list of 37 BI technologies under study, up five places since 2018.
“Compared to the early years of our focused study, cloud BI appears to have conquered skepticism and crossed a threshold of credibility, and we expect this will continue to improve,” said Jim Ericson, vice president and research director at Dresner Advisory Services. “Resources and domain expertise from dedicated third-party providers are seen as a benefit to deploying cloud BI, while the perceived barrier of security, although still present, has diminished somewhat over time.”
The study shows increased spending growth for public and private cloud, with slightly more momentum for public cloud in 2019. Very large organizations are the biggest investors. Top user cloud BI feature requirements include advanced visualization, ad-hoc query, and personalized dashboards. Industry support for user requirements and features is strong.
“We began tracking and analyzing the cloud BI market dynamic in 2012, when adoption was nascent. Since that time, deployments of public cloud BI applications are increasing, with organizations citing substantial benefits versus traditional on-premises implementations,” said Howard Dresner, founder and chief research officer at Dresner Advisory Services.
Wisdom of Crowds® research is based on data collected on usage and deployment trends, products, and vendors. Users in all roles and throughout all industries contributed to provide a complete view of realities, plans, and perceptions of the market.
